Time

If I had time I would write a poem about time but I don't. Well thanks to all my readers. I have been trying to get off blogger.com with my blog but that will have to wait for another time. Thanks Matthew Tener Wade.

New Poem, Echoes

This is my latest poem I wrote it for a contest only to find later that it was the wrong contest so I hope you will benefit from my mistake. Thanks -Matthew Tener Wade

He could still hear,
that long train whistle
as it came into town,
and the way it echoed
down the wide streets of the city.

He could still feel,
the rush of the steam
as it ruffled his cloths,
and dampened his hair,
setting the children all to giggles.

He could still see,
the smoke billowing
past the the tall buildings,
and the long train track
as it stretched far to the horizon.

And still he knew,
that there was no whistle
and there was no smoke
only the empty tracks
and those long empty echoes.

For they still sound,
off the buildings
and down those streets
coming back to us
as memories, only to be forgotten.

This is the real new poem that I wrote and I have also set it to music though I doubt that I will release the score just yet. Thanks and please visit my site mattspoems.com.

A Walk by Matthew Tener Wade
take a walk down main street
and see all that's there
the come back to me
and we'll say a prayer
for the poor little souls
that live in the city
for they work hard all day
and don't get no pity
Then...
take a walk to the cross roads
and see all that's there
then go on your way
but please take some care
not to forget that the men
who built this grand nation
came right from here
and laid the foundation
so look at the capital
and all them close places
just remember that the men
came from the wide open spaces

Thanks for viewing my blog.---matt

I Wonder

I wonder if you stop and just listen

to what might have been?

to what will never become

to that song that remains unsung

to the story still untold.

I am locked in that past

unable to get out of here

I can't find a key to the door

You struggled out a long time ago

I'm glad you did

even if I'm still in that past

You go on don't look back

It's not a pretty sight

don't look back

You might get caught

in that story or song

so keep going or

you might start to wonder
